Founder’s story

Built by an engineer who has spent a career making sure data can’t lie.

instantproof.legal is built by Nick Reyntjens, a senior software engineer with 25 years of professional experience — much of it in the one field where “close enough” is never enough: financial infrastructure, where ledgers must be correct, encrypted and impossible to corrupt. Evidence has the same bar. That’s not a coincidence — it’s the whole point.

A career in correctness

Nick spent the early part of his career building general software and backend infrastructure for organisations that depend on systems simply working — among them McKinsey Solutions, TomTom and Financial Architects, among others.

In more recent years he focused on financial backend infrastructure, working for UBS and Bitfinex. There the work is unforgiving by nature: transactional correctness, encryption standards, and the reliability and incorruptibility of ledgers and financial transactions. When a single mismatched number is a serious incident, you learn to design systems that are auditable, tamper-evident, and correct under adversarial scrutiny.

That is exactly the discipline a piece of evidence demands. The same techniques that keep a bank’s ledger honest — cryptographic binding, independent verification, fail-closed checks — are what make an instantproof package impossible to forge, even by us.

An inventor, not just an engineer

Beyond software, Nick is a builder of novel things. He holds several patents tied to hardware prototypes he designed and built — including a drone with a 3D-operable robotic arm. Knowing first-hand what it takes to get a patent granted is part of why instantproof’s own architecture is engineered to be defensible — and is itself patent pending.

He also laid the foundations for photonic insecticides, an emerging moonshot for clean, chemical-free pest control. The associated research was published in SPIE Photonics and presented at the World Photonics Convention in Strasbourg — the kind of peer-reviewed rigor that doesn’t survive hand-waving.

The throughline: a track record of building technology that is new, rigorous, and built to stand up to scrutiny.

Why that matters for your proof

Evidence software has to be correct when someone is actively trying to discredit it. instantproof is built to that standard: an independent witness attests to the network traffic, the record is cryptographically bound to the real servers and decryptable by anyone, the time is fixed by a third-party authority, and fail-closed gates refuse to issue a certificate unless every check passes.

It is, deliberately, a system that assumes no one — including us — should simply be taken at their word. See exactly how it works →
